This seems to be the new thing to have in the fitness / health industry. everyone who is anyone is throwing this around and promoting balance. However is anyone really promoting it ? Because personally someone posting a picture of a big feast they are eating with a caption saying they will be going to the gym tomorrow to work it off #balance is not what I would call balance. Instead embracing that decision to eat that meal with no need to justify yourself or feel guilt is more balanced in my opinion.
Balance means "a situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions"
Therefore you need to work on your mindset before anything else. To get to point where ALL aspects of your life are equal in your mindset nothing is better nothing is worse. You want to get to a point where you embrace every choice, every action and NOT feel guilty over them.
No one is perfect we won't always have this ideal of balance but you can get to a pretty good 90% of it you just need to believe in it and work on it.
How many people will go out for drinks/dinner because balance only to wake up the next morning feeling guilty & like a failure that needs to start again ? Do you feel bad when you have that slice of cake or miss a workout to do something with friends?
If this is you then balance isn't there yet but it can be, like anything it is a skill that can be learnt and I promise it will be one of the most valuable skill you will have :)
And following on from this - JUSTIFICATION. Why is there this need now to justify what we do to other around us and also ourselves ? I'll hold my hands up and be the first to admit I do this at times. There are moments where I feel the need to justify why I'm doing something or I sit there and work out if it's ok to have the extra slice of cake, miss the workout, have one more drink. But at the end of the day life is for living therefore you need to LIVE it ! Also a harsh but true fact is 99% of the time people don't really care why you are doing something they just see you doing it and that's enough.
It is YOUR life YOUR decisions and no one else should have control over it :) Remember everything needs to be equal or of equal proportions - no guilt, embrace decisions and live your life as a life not a list of tasks you need to complete.
