Matcha Truffles

Matcha - the ultimate #fitspo superfood normally seen as a latte looking perfect on someones instagram page. I recently bought myself some to make just that to replace my morning coffee (as I'm a bit of a coffee fiend). It can be pretty pricey hence why I bought it when holland and barrat had a sale on.

On its own matcha tastes like earth and anyone who says otherwise is lying. However when made with almond milk and a dash of sugar free vanilla or a sprinkle of truvia its pretty good :)

Matcha itself is a powdered form of green tea, as you have the whole leaf you receive 137 times more antioxidants than normal green tea. Some of the benefits include:

  • Can help boost metabolism

  • Detoxifies naturally

  • Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins

  • Enhances mood and aids in concentration

  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium

I decided to experiment with it and came up with these tasty truffles. Not quite the same as chocolate but they are a nice sweet alternative with the added health benefits :) (Just look past the green colour they are tasty I promise)
