As many of you know from Instagram I use Beloved Date Nectar in the majority of my baking. I love the taste, consitency and concept of it and use it as an alternative to honey. It works as an ingredient in baking as well as drizzle for the finished product and on oats.
It is made form 100% dates no added anything making all natural, low in salt and the sugars are coming from the dates. So if you are looking for an alternative I would recommend this.
I was also lucky to be sent some of their bars and new date hearts to try.
Available in 3 varieties: Date and Berry, Date and Seed, Date and Nut.
They are made from rolled oats, crisp rice, dates and then the added fruit, nuts or seeds.
Chewy consistency not too sweet which I liked
Due to their ingedients they are mainly a carb source making them an ideal post workout snack to get your sugars in before you have a balanced meal of carbs protein and fats. I would also recommend these as a on the go snack if you are on a long walk, cycle ride or hike to keep your energy up.
The date hearts
A nice alternative to sweets as once again just made from the dates with added orange extract for the zesty orange ones.
Sweet and moreish
Have to be a fan of dates (which I am) for the taste however they have a nicer consistency
Both of these offer a great source of natural energy. I am all one for eating substantial meals and would recommend that over anything but if you need a quick pick me up these will give you that.
You can buy all of these from their website, Asda or Sainsburys.
Using the date hearts as inspiration I created a little recipe that would be perfect for a valentines day treat <3
