You workout, you eat healthily 80% of the time, you meal prep, you take progress pictures ....
BUT WHY ?
Do you know the reasons why you do all/ one or two or none of the above ?
These days it can be so easy to get caught up in the fitness hype as we are constantly being bombarded with all these different things we should be doing -
Meal prep will help you eat better
Drink more Water
Do more HIIT less LISS
Lift weights ... run more ... crossfit
Workout 5 times a day ... no workout 3 times
Eat clean ... iifym ... listen to your body
And the list goes on! Now I am not saying that any of this is wrong or right in fact each point has it's place. But what I am trying to get at is that this is all pointless if you don't know why you are doing it.
I know this because this is something I have been struggling with over the last couple of weeks. Feeling lost and a bit demotivated as I don't know why I was doing the training and eating a certain way - my end goal wasn't in sight. So I took some time out to actually workout what I want and why I do it. And the reason ...
To get stronger and try to maintain where I am at over xmas.
I love training, I love eating well but I also want to be able to relax a little bit as well and it took me writing it all down to realise I'm still young and need to enjoy life.
There shouldn't be this pressure to be something else I just need to be ME! And the same goes for you as well - Find YOU!
Take some time out today and write down your current routine, then write down 3 reasons why you are doing it and then what the end goal is. If you can't workout why you do it all then reassess, look at that goal and find 3 reasons how you can get to that goal.
If you are just wanting to be fit and healthy is there any need to religiously track your macros and hit the gym hard 5 times a day ?
If you are prepping for a certain comp or shoot then yes counting macros and getting those cardio & weight sessions in will be needed to attain that goal.
Having a knowledge of what your body works best off is important and you should be making sure you get enough protein carbs and fats in but if it's slightly off it's not going to make a massive difference.
Do you do it because you love it ... then keep doing what you love and make sure you still love it at the end of the week. Don't stress about it ! Find activities that make YOU happy that will help YOU reach YOUR goal !
We all spend to much time trying to be as good as someone else when at the end of the day it all comes down to who we are and what we want.
Make sure you find your why and live your life with that in mind :)
